Quinta do Noval Colheita Port 1937
A Colheita Port is a single vintage wine fortified and aged in tawny style for at least seven years. Instead of an indication of age (10, 20,...) the actual vintage year is mentioned. A Colheita may have spent 20 or more years in wooden barrels before being bottled.
Legislation requires a minimum ageing period of 7 years in casks. At Quinta do Noval, Colheitas are commercialised after 10 to 12 years of maturing.
Powerful, concentrated and intense, this is lively and spicy with astonishing richness of flavour. Bold acidity and lively spicy notes couple with notes of treacle, raisin, old casks and dried herbs, with an eternal finish. It has some of the complex characters that you might find in an old whisky, and it is utterly delicious.
