Quinta da Sequeira Red 2012
The Quinta de Sequeira’s prime location in the Douro Superior is crucial for the superior quality of the grapes. The combination of a schist soil, a very low rainfall and a large thermic range, provides the most intense, rich and concentrated wines. The predominant red grape varieties present in the vineyards are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Barroca. The white varieties are Malvazia Fina, Gouveio, Rabigato, Viosinho and Códega do Larinho.
Total destemming followed by crushing; cold maceration for 24 hours; fermentation for eight days, in stainless steel tanks with refrigeration system, followed by malolactic fermentation. Matured for six months in used French oak barrels .
Full red. Very concentrated, with wood notes related with black berry fruits jam. Well balanced with smooth tannins resulting in a harmonious, clean and persistent wine.
