CARM Maria Lourdes White 2011
In the Douro Superior (Upper Douro), wherethe organic cultures of vines, olive oil and almondscoexist with an endangered fauna, ourfamily affirmed our connection to our landthrough the founding of CARM - Casa AgrícolaRoboredo Madeira. These lands, where ourEstates are situated, continue to give refugeto the golden eagle, the fishing eagle, the griffinand the wild partridge, so typical of theslopes of the Douro Superior and are home toa flora of rock rose, juniper, fennel, rosemaryand sour flowers, among other species.CARM Estate farms or quintas comprise over125 hectares of vineyards, 220 hectares ofolive groves and 60 hectares of almond plantations.
With the latest technology and complete control of temperature, eliminated clusters that were not in perfect condition, destemmed, crushed soft and thermal shock, followed up by a period of maceration pre-fermentation cold-mill for about 12 to 24h, after which the mass was transferred to fermentation vats wide and low, which fermented for about 10 days at temperatures between 24 and 26 ° C. The malolactic fermentation occurred naturally, and it was concluded at the end of December. Part of the wine fermentation in wood.
Very fresh and complex wine with citrus fruitand grapefruit notes in harmony with slight floral nuances and strong mineral notes characteristic of the “terroirs”. This wine shows an exceptional volume arising from a long “battonage“ period and a unique fresh and mineral finish.
