Quinta de Fafide Vintage Port 2011
Grapes from vines planted in the Douro Superior, with an average altitude of 250 meters from vineyards with an average age of about 30 years, usually planted in terraces with predominant exposure West / South. We look for a selection of grapes that will allow us to obtain a more concentrated wine, very aromatic and rich with ageing potencial. Revealing the terroir of the Douro Superior, with its very elegant notes of rock rose and black fruit and spices.
Hand picked grapes are vinified using the traditional Port wine method. Fermentation with controlled environment in stainless steel vats and it was stopped through the addition of wine alcohol. The resulting wines were very elegant and with a great ageing potential. After the vintage, the wine is stored in oak casks and ‘balseiros’ in the lodge for a short period of 18 months. The final blend was assembled after many tastings, following a rigorous qualitative process in order to get a wine distinguished by his outstanding richness, ideal for bottle aging.
Issued from an exceptional vintage, it's full with deep color and marked by irreproachable freshness and complexity. This wine shows an extraordinary structure and intensity with a very robust body, foreseeing an extremely long life in bottle.
